Dona Elsa Ramirez, La Profesora de cocina, holds cooking
classes in her home that you can sign up for through the “Bike Tour Bogota” at http://www.bogotabiketours.com/cooking-classes/
It cost me 35,000 pesos plus the
ingredients and currently you get a choice of three different dishes delicious and varied (bandeja paisa, sancocho and ajiaco). This class was a delightful
way to spend several hours and get to know more about the country’s
people and culture I am visiting. 
You walk with Doña Elsa to her local traditional
neighborhood mercados (several local markets; meat, fruit and
vegetables, and dry goods) and buy the ingredients for your meal. Then prepare the
meal, with her in her home, in La
Candelaria. As an end results, you get to eat what you cook.
